A native of western Illinois, Kevin first learned carpentry from his father, a talented woodworker who built his childhood homes. After graduating from Northern Illinois University and moving to the Lowcountry in 2010, he soon realized that office life was not for him: In 2014, he decided to quit his 9 to 5 and founded Charlestowne Workshop to pursue his passion for woodworking full-time. In 2024, Charlestowne Workshop officially evolved to Krug Construction to better reflect the business’s large-scale renovation and construction projects. He lives in Charleston with his wife, Natalie, and son, Louis.
